Weekend Travel Essentials

I am very no-nonsense about my beauty routine during the summer. I spend a lot of time running and playing tennis outside, and Barry and I also walk 4 miles every day when we're at the beach. I generally like a clean natural face on the weekends, and the only time I step up my look is for parties at our beach community.    

Weekend Morning Face 

Hydration, SPF, a touch of mascara, and I'm out the door! 

1.  M-61 Hydraboost Serum.  For extra moisture under sunscreen - the tamarind and aloe are incredibly soothing and the B5 is a superhero hydrator.  

2.  SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50. The hint of color evens out my skin tone while the 6% titanium dioxide and 5% zinc oxide is a phenomenal block.  

3.  Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara in Jet Black.  I hate leaving the house without mascara. This Japanese formula tubes around your lashes and lasts all day.  

Weekend Evening Look

I am all about perfect skin, bronzer, dusk colored eyeshadows and the perfect lip gloss during summer evenings!

1.  M-61 Vitablast C Serum. Perfect treatment post-sun to help with sun spots and skin elasticity. I pop this on post-shower and pre-primer.  

2.  Lune+Aster RealGlow Primer. The perfect primer that is hydrating with a hint of glimmer.  Packed with vitamin E, licorice and apple extract, and it's vegan!  

3.  Lune+Aster CC Cream SPF 50 in Medium. I made this CC cream for me, so I definitely love it. I love the hydration, coverage and luminosity.   

4.  Trish McEvoy Sun and Sand Collection Planner. I'm loving the eyeshadow quad, especially the cream color for all over the lid, the topaz as a crease color, and the blackberry granite as an eyeliner.   Use the shadows over the eye base in bare for extra hold.  

5.  Bronzers.  I have so many I love: Nars Bronzing Powder in Laguna, Lune+Aster Moonrise Glow & Contour Bronzing Palette, Trish McEvoy Bronzer Golden Glamour (also in the new planner), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Medium. Anything for the sun-kissed look! (Sometimes I use during the day, too over my sunscreen!)

6. Lip Glosses. My go-to lip gloss is a summery nude or pink: I love Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster SPF 15 Lip Gloss in Sexy Nude or Lune+Aster Vitamin C+E Lip Gloss in Entrepreneur.  

My Summer Splurge: The new Revive Soleil Superieur Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen. Easy hydration plus SPF 50 - great for under daytime makeup or a quick trip to the farmers market on Saturday. It is a chemical block so I don't feel like it is strong enough for the beach, but it's perfect for less intense sun. I LOVE the texture and easy application.  

Summer Lip Gloss Love

Lip glosses are my go-to easy outfit change and pick-me-up and that's why Lune+Aster, the easy-to-use, healthy and mainly vegan makeup line I created, has so many! They are all named after aspirational roles - partially to inspire my daughters and you - and partially because we all play different roles on different days. My two favorites are CEO and Entrepreneur, my best friends love Poet and Ph.D, and I always give Teacher to my kids' teachers!

Now we have added two more shades to the Vitamin C+E Lip Gloss collection. I created President - a completely wearable red - for this election year! One coat is nice and sheer, or you can layer on for added drama. I love to pair it with Laura Mercier's Defining Lip Pencil in True Red for a deep Parisian red lip. So easy!

And then of course there's Rockstar - inspired by summer festivals and concerts. Barry and I love taking time to see amazing musicians during the summertime. We just went to see John Mayer and the Grateful Dead, and John Mayer's guitar skills are at their peak right now! Rockstar is a sheer, glimmery gold that can be worn alone or over top of any lipstick color. I love summer and I love lip gloss!

This time of year, I always have a combination of these essentials with me. During the summer it's all about SPF, glowing skin, fun lip glosses and easy hair care!

A Body Moisturizer for Every Moment

Recently I was playing double with my close friends and one of them pulled Molton Brown Rok Mint Moisturizer out of her bag and put it on her legs between sets. It was so funny to see the full bottle with a pump on the bench! The things we will do for hydrated and smooth legs! Here are some other favorites:

1. Hydraboost Body Butter. Coming soon! I designed this with our client-loved core Hydraboost formula of Vitamin B5 and peptides for firming, and then added coconut oil for an extra boost of natural hydration!

2. Kiehl's Creme de Corps Light-Weight Body Lotion. An absolute Bluemercury client favorite post-pool or beach. It is the lighter version of the cult classic Creme de Corps. 

3. La Mer After Sun Enhancer. Has a hint of glow and glimmer that makes it perfect for daytime events – barbecues, weddings, anywhere!

4. Caudalie Divine Oil. I use this on my legs and feet after I am dressed, before I go out for shiny, healthy, sleek looking legs. Also perfect for arms, shoulders and dry elbows! It has a delicious scent, too.

Quick Tip: I love using a PowerGlow Peel on my legs before moisturizing to quickly exfoliate for  smooth, glowing skin!

A New Love: Outdoor Wedding Sunscreen

Those of you that know me know I am a sunscreen diehard. If you show up at our office Monday with a sunburn, you are sure to get a lecture from me. But I get it. Sunscreens feel like extra work and they sometimes feel so heavy. I had an outdoor wedding to go to last Saturday afternoon when it was 90 degrees outside. Allie, one of our beauty experts from Bethesda did my makeup.   When she asked me if I wanted a sunscreen under my makeup, I almost hesitated. Imagine that? I asked, "What is your favorite sunscreen to wear under makeup on a boiling hot day?" She told me, hands down, her favorite is ReVive’s new Soleil Superior Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen. She was right. It absorbed right into my skin and had a luminous finish. We used an M-61 Skincare PowerGlow Peel first to create a canvas of smooth, exfoliated skin.  Then, we used Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Flow Foundation (in select stores!) over it.
